Vibramycin to treat bacterial infections

Description

Generic Vibramycin is used for the treatment and prevention of infections that are caused by pathogenic bacteria. The medicine is indicated in bacterial infections caused by pathogenic bacteria that belong to gram-positive microorganisms. Generic Vibramycin is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including acne. It contains Doxycycline, a drug that is also used to prevent malaria. Action Mechanism

Doxycycline belongs to the group of antibiotics called Tetracycline. It has been found that Tetracycline is a bacteriostatic drug. It acts by binding reversibly to the subunit of the pathogenic bacterial ribosome. This suppresses the addition of amino acids to the proliferating peptide, resulting in the inhibition of protein synthesis. Simply put, Generic Vibramycin stops the growth of pathogenic bacteria in your system, treating certain bacterial infections. Please note that the drug does not have any action on the viruses and fungi.

Dosage

  • Oral therapy should be instituted as soon as the diagnosis is done.
  • The usual dose of Generic Vibramycin is 100 to 200 mg, which usually depends on the complexity or severity of the bacterial infection
  • For syphilis treatment, the recommended dosage is 300 mg once a day for at least 10 days.
  • It is important to use Generic Vibramycin exactly for the number days advised by your physician.
  • For instance, if you physician has advised to take the medicine for 10 days, make sure you take it for 10 days.
  • You should not exceed the number of days of treatment.And you should complete the course of antibiotic therapy even if you notice an improvement in five days.
  • If you fail to do so, you may develop antibiotic resistance.

Precautions

  • As with other antibiotics, the use of Generic Vibramycin may or may not result in an overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. If super infection occurs, Generic Vibramycin should be discontinued.
  • Using Generic Vibramycin in the absence of strongly suspected bacterial infection or any prophylactic indication will unlikely provide benefit to the patient; instead, it will increase the risk of the drug-resistant bacteria
  • The drug should not be used in pregnancy unless, under the supervision of the physician, it is highly essential for the benefit of the patient.
  • All Tetracycline drugs, including Doxycycline, form a stable calcium complex in bone-forming tissues. A decrease in the bone growth rate is observed in prematures. However, this reaction was reversible when the drug was discontinued.

Warnings

  • Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea has been reported with the use of almost all antibiotics, including Generic Vibramycin; this may range in severity from mild diarrhea to colitis. The tretament with Generic Vibramycin alters the normal intestinal flora, leading to overgrowth of Clostridium difficile.
  • Skin reactions such as dermatitis or erythema have been reported in patients who use Doxycycline. If severe skin reactions occur, Generic Vibramycin should be discontinued appropriate therapy should be started.
  • Photosensitivity has also been reported in patients using Generic Vibramycin. Therefore, patients using this antibiotic are sensitive to sun and experience sun burn due to exposure to the sun. Patients are advised to stay away from sun exposure while using Generic Vibramycin.
