Action Mechanism

The exact mechanism by which Generic Topamax exerts its antiepileptic or anticonvulsant effects are idiopathic; however, clinical studies have revealed four properties that contribute to its efficacy for epilepsy as well as migraine prophylaxis. Dosage

Take this medicine orally with or without food as directed by your physician, usually twice a day.
Swallow a whole tablet since breaking or crushing them may leave a bitter taste. To prevent the formation of kidney stones, drink plenty of water during the course of treatment.
Dosage is often advised after considering your medical condition and response to treatment
Take this medication on a regular basis to get the most out of it. To help you remember, take the dose at the same time(s) each day.

Precautions

Warnings

Generic Topamax may make you dizzy or drowsy. So, do not drive, ride, use machinery, or do anything that needs your mental alertness. Also, avoid alcohol during treatment.
This medication can make you sweat less, making you prone to heat stroke. So, avoid doing things that can cause you to overheat, such as exercising in hot weather or using hot tubs.
When the weather is hot, make sure you drink plenty of fluids and dress lightly. If you easily overheat, look for a place to cool down. Get medical attention if you have a fever that persist for a longer period.
Elderly people may be more sensitive to the adverse effects of this anti-epileptic drug, especially dizziness, which can increase the risk of falling.
During pregnancy, Generic Topamax should be used only when it is recommended. The drug may harm the fetus. If you are planning pregnancy or become pregnant, immediately talk to your physician about the risks and benefits of using this prescription medication during pregnancy.
This drug can pass into breast milk and may have unpliant effects on a newborn. So, consult with your physician before you breast-feed.
