Generic Lopressor (Metoprolol) is a beta-blocker that works by inhibiting or blocking the action of certain chemicals in the body, including epinephrine. This particular effect of Metoprolol is helps in lowering the blood pressure and heart rate, thereby reducing the strain on the heart.

Warnings

Generic Lopressor may reduce blood flow to the hands and feet, making them feel cold. And smoking may worsen this effect. So, you must dress warmly and avoid tobacco use.
The drug may make you a bit dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive, ride, use a machinery, or do anything that requires your alertness until you can do it safely.
Also, limit alcoholic beverages, as they can increase the risk of dizziness.
During pregnancy, Generic Lopressor should be taken only when needed. It may harm the fetus, so discuss the risks and benefits of using this medicine with your physician.
Metoprolol can pass into breast milk. Check with your doctor whether you can use it during breastfeeding.
