Artvigil is nothing but the generic version of a popular branded medicine known as Armodafinil. Both the medications are equally effective as they are actively composed of an FDA-approved drug – Armodafinil. The active drug is an effective wakefulness-promoting agent, aka as Eugeroic. It is a safe drug for people with excessive sleepiness, but it is mandatory to use it after consulting a medical professional.

The working of Artvigil (Armodafinil) in promoting wakefulness is not clearly understood. However, it is presumed that the drug has wakefulness-promoting properties similar to other therapeutic agents like methylphenidate or amphetamine. According to the pharmacologic profile, Armodafinil is considered as an antagonist to the alpha-1 adrenergic receptor. In short, it acts with certain neurotransmitters in the central nervous system to promote wakefulness and alertness.
