
This is one question that every smoker asks when advised to do so. The irony is that 99.9 % of them know the adverse effects of this dreadful habit. Nevertheless, none of the reasons can persuade them to give up this habit for good. Among smokers, there are those who have tried and been unsuccessful and then there are those who love smoking more than their health.
For those who are on the younger side, they do not see any present harm in their addiction to the cancer stick and since smoke related diseases take years to set in, they think that they can get away with it. No one really knows what drives this addiction and why most of the addicts don’t give quitting a serious thought? Present generation is adamant about living in the present and nurtures a ‘care a dam’ attitude towards the future. What ever the reason, it time they knew why they need to quit smoking. What is even more important is that no matter how old the addiction, it is never too late to quit smoking.

This means that they feel more energized and can be physically active for a longer time, post leaving cigarettes. Many also reported increase in their stamina and endurance.

- Look younger- Studies have shown that the onset of wrinkles decreases post quitting smoking. The skin also stops looking tired and haggard and the onset of dark circles also decreases. Combined effect of all this makes the people look young and fresh.
- Saves money- Chain smokers spend thousands of dollars every year in smoking. Once they give up smoking, they have more money in the bank.
- Fresh breath- The body enjoys fresh breath that is not mixed with nicotine, making the person more alert and keeps the mind fresh. Also, people don’t cringe away from you because they cannot bear the smell.
- Better health- Nicotine and carbon monoxide just add excess toxins to the body. This puts an extra strain on the organs and their efficiency decreases drastically. This can lead to diseases in various forms and may be the root cause of hypertension, coronary heart disease and respiratory disorders.
- Decrease the chances of having cancer- People who smoke have 80 % more chances of suffering from cancer than people who don’t. So just by giving up the habit for good, you become less prone to cancer.
- Decreased heartburn and indigestion- people who smoke, after sometime start suffering from heart burn and cancer. Quitting smoking reverses the process.
- White teeth, pink lips- Smoking not just makes the teeth look yellow, but over time also darkens the lips. This affects the person’s appearance and makes them look shabby. It can also kill confidence as the person feels conscious of his ugly teeth and lips while talking. Quitting smoking can bring back the sparkling smile and helps a person regain confidence.
- Helps the environment- Smoking adds to the air pollution. So kill this habit and make the world a better place.
