The latest news on health is that a Marin county resident has recently died due to a brain degenerative disorder which seems to be associated with the mad cow disease; the deceased resident is reported to be a woman. There also reports from the same place that a male resident is reported sick and is suffering from the same disorder, but the health officials claim that there is no health threat to the public.

A disease known as Creutzfeldt-Jakob which is known to be born because of the damaged protein in the brain and is also known to lead to dementia. This disease is said to be fatal and leads to the death of the patient especially within a year of diagnosis. As per the reports from the officials it is clear that the deceased women did not die because of the mad cow disease but had suffered from Creutzfeldt-Jakob and they also suggest that the second case is also not linked to the mad cow disease.

There is officially no evidence which states that there could be any linkage between the two cases and there is neither any evidence in the risk of food supply. The health officials of the county stated that they do not have any evidence yet but the case is still under investigation. The Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease is very rare and there are around 300 cases that every year in United States. Some cases are reported suddenly and the reasons for these diseases are unknown as they suddenly raise their head or some of them are inherited.

Incase of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, it belongs to a category of 1% of diseases which is usually caused by an infection known as mad cow disease, this is usually seen in people who consume infected beef. This disease also seem to spread through blood transfusion or if the tissue from an infected person is transplanted. As per the reports there have been only 3 cases of this disease in United States and about 220 cases reported worldwide.

It is almost impossible to hear 2 cases of the same disease in the same area and the Marin county cases are not related to the same. CJD is one of the rarest diseases and it works on a mechanism of changing the shape and causing the other proteins to change the shape which is now a model for all neurological diseases.
