In the process of living a fast life, even drying your hair can become a tiresome chore. Add to that, due to cold and damp weather people have to depend on a hair dryer for a quick dry out session. However, all this comes with a price as most of them complain of dry, brittle hair. The funny part is that people are aware of the hazards of overuse of these mean machines but this does not stop them from indulging in quick fix. Chronic users of hair dryers complain of receding hairlines due to severe hair fall. In extreme cases, people report of hair fall in chunks shattering their confidence. The extremely dry scalp leaves them with bald patches and thin, frail hair.

Hair problems are more common in people who hold the hair dryer extremely close to the scalp. This heats up the scalp area, directly burning the root follicles which results in hair fall though it does help in quickly drying out the scalp. Some people are genuinely short of time and don’t have an option but to rely on hairdryers. For such people experts advice the use of hair dryer diffuser which effectively dries the hair while reducing the damage that is caused by direct hair drying.

What is a hair dryer diffuser?

It is an attachment with fits into the end of a blow dryer and helps in drying curly hair. It can also be used by people who have straight, colored, permed or fine hair.

  • Start the drying procedure from the scalp, aiming the roots first and then slowly move to the tips. Its best to use cold air as it adds volume to the hair without drying it.
  • While holding the hair dryer diffuser, its best to hold it at 90 degree to make the most of it. It ensures that airs reaches the root of the hair and add bounce to your hair.
  • It’s the best to start using a diffuser only after the scalp is partially dry. This ensures that the hair dries quickly and at the same time, it is not subjected to the diffuser for a long time.
  • Hair rollers help to smooth out the curls and the same time, straighten and shape the hair well. It is advised to set the speed limit to 1 or 2 to get the best effect.
  • The hair drying process should be continuous and not last for more than 15 to 20 minutes.
  • It’s important to use a diffuser that goes well with your hair dryer to ensure maximum efficacy and ensure that there is no electric shock. It’s also important to ensure that there is no overload of electrical outlets and the plug fits in well so that the diffuser can be safely used.
  • Do NOT ever use a hair dyer while bathing or in shower as it can be dangerous. It’s also not wise to use it with aerosols as they are inflammable.
  • Do not leave the hair dryer plugged into a socket when not in use as it can cause fire.
