It is true that these days we are imbibed with heavy work load and stress. Aging and chronic stress are interrelated factors. Stress is not something which can be taken for granted but yes we are living in a modern world with lots of competitors and handful of friends. A recent study points out how people who are subjected to lots of hard labor and stressful work conditions are known to age quickly along with associated symptoms of depression. Long term accumulation of depression in individuals is known to hasten their stress hormone, Cortisol.
This stress hormone is produced in the adrenal glands and it plays a major role in every person’s body. This helps one to regulate the blood pressure and it helps to boost the immune system during a critical moment of a person’s life. However when one is severely subjected to chronic stress then this ‘good’ stress hormone, Cortisol, takes an unexpected downward turn. Yes it hinders the body’s blood sugar levels and it makes one to crave for more food!
What does cortisol do?
Chronic stress causes high Cortisol levels and it causes a depressed irregular immune system, abnormal blood sugar levels and as per experts, it increases the craving for food as a result of which a person can gain excess weight. However there are ways to effectively control this deadly combination of being stressed and then attempting to eat away the stress. It is alright to understand your present circumstance and instead of worrying too much you need to effectively manage the stress inducing factor in the body.
Blood pressure and cholesterol levels of those who practiced the Buddhist meditation are significantly reduced. When a stressed out person starts to do the yoga, he enters into a sense of wellbeing. Meditating early in the morning is found to be significant in cutting the levels into half. The next method to control stress is listening to music. Music can heal believe it or not it; Music is proven to effectively control your blood pressure levels and it has its own impact on our brain’s mechanism! This does not mean one can listen to boisterous rock music and expect an immediate calmness on stress levels. Certainly NO! One needs to listen to melodies as well as soft music to imbibe the calming sensation. All of us like to watch the TV shows and there are persons who would ask their own friends to record the show if he/she is out of town on that day. In case you try to listen to your melodious music collection rather than the TV show for one week, you would notice the internal peace and calming sensation in your mind which sure plays an effective role for cutting across your stress levels into half.
Finally it is sleep, sleep over it. One might ask whether it matters if they sleep 6 hours or for just 4 hours. There is no huge external difference but hey there is a huge impact in your own internal self. The required 8 hour shut – eye regime enables one to remove away all the stress culminated in the day’s work. Pennsylvania State University has also discovered that those students who were enjoying a good mid-day snooze were able to actively complete their work in the rest of the day whereas those who ignored night’s sleep were unable to focus well in their studies. Hence it is wise to understand the fact that stress is simply unavoidable but it can be kept at bay when one just relaxes doing meditation, listening to music and by enjoying a good night’s sleep.
Aging and chronic stress can be kept under control by the above said methods and well you might be just baffled at the way your body turns from the ‘flabby fat body’ to the slim lean sort by effectively managing the stress issues of your day to day life!
