Caffeine is present in tea, coffee and some chocolate which we all consume in our daily life. How does one know if he is getting addicted to it? Well let us see a few of the symptoms of it.
If a person hasn’t had his caffeine intake for long hours he will witness withdrawal symptoms like headaches, drowsiness and even fatigue. Mood swings can also occur along with muscle stiffness and lack of concentration. Another indicator is that caffeine addiction is cumulative, that is if today 1 cup of coffee satiates you then tomorrow you may need 2 cups. Caffeine cravings are another symptom. But the good part is that these cravings will go away once you control this addiction.
How can I control my caffeine addiction?
- Cut down: A sudden stoppage of caffeine substances is not possible, so hence it is advisable to gradually reduce the intake of these substances. Reduce the number of coffee you drink or reduce the quantity of coffee in it.
- Switch to alternate drinks: Every time you get craving for a hot coffee, substitute it with any other hot drink (like maybe a soup).
- Meditating: Meditation is one way to control your mind. A strong mind can say no whenever you feel the tinge to have caffeine. Develop a self will to refrain from the coffee machine
- Gum: Chewing gums have known to have cured many addictions like smoking and drug abuse and the same result can be achieved for caffeine addiction as well.
- Remove traces: If you are trying to help a friend or family member with his or her caffeine addiction you can remove all traces of caffeine substances from the house or office
Once you overcome this addiction you can rest free, but never let down your guard as consuming any item that has caffeine in it can bring you spiraling back to your addiction.
