Avoid walking right after you are done with your meal:
It is believed that taking a leisurely walk after a meal is good for the digestion. It is also helpful in controlling weight and is recommended for individuals who are victim of inappropriate digestion or flatulency. However, in fact one should not walk immediately after eating the food. You should allow your intakes to settle down in your stomach and take a walk at least thirty minutes after the meal.
Do not smoke after you eat:
It is believed that smoking after meal increases the chances of risk associated with the activity. However, it should be known that smoking is not only harmful after eating but irrespective of the time, smoking can lead you to fatal disorders. It is one of the most critical sources of ‘carcinogens’ which affect the health of human causing cancer.
Do not go to bed immediately after eating:
Immediately going to sleep after eating your meals can lead to serious digestion issues. It can also lead to flatulency which can be irritating. During and after you eat your meal the Basal Metabolic Rate or BMR increases and helps in digestive process. If you go to sleep immediately after your meal the BMR get influenced and appropriate digestion does not take place. Regular habit of sleeping immediately after eating can also lead to obesity which in turn causes other physical disorders. One should allow their body to complement at least for two to three hours before you go to sleep.
Avoid bathing right after a meal:
Most people would prefer taking a refreshing bath right after they eat their food. It should be understood that bath also influences the BMR. Hence, while your body feels refreshing your digestion gets hindered leading to digestion problems.
Eating fruits can be not suitable in some cases:
We usually believe that eating fruits directly after meal can help in getting useful nutrient for the body. It should be understood that not all fruits are suitable with food you intake. There are some critic fruits which react with acids and compounds that you intake through your food and result in adverse effects such as stomach upset, food poisoning etc. Hence, appropriate time gap should be maintained between fruits and meal.
To conclude the topic it is always better to give sometime to your food to settle, at least half an hour and then follow your desired activity.
