Many men who had initially reported to their health care provider about being impotent or having an erection that was not strong enough to penetrate their partners later said that they were able to have a strong and hard erection after they got ‘drunk’. On examination, experts found that alcohol was not curing them of erectile dysfunction, but it was affecting the men in a different way.

  • Men can lose erection if they are too stressed out. This is because, when they are stressed, the flow of blood to the brain increases, depriving the pelvic region of a healthy circulation. Another fact is that, when men are stressed, the response from the nerve endings decreases. As a result, when the couples are involved in foreplay, the man finds it hard to get excited. Due to this the male reproductive organ remains limp and the man thinks that he has become impotent though it could be a form of temporary loss of erection. When they consume alcohol, they are not able to mull over their problems and the brain goes into a stupor where they cannot think much. As a result the brain is more relaxed and can respond to foreplays in a better manner.
  • Some men are embarrassed if they have a small reproductive organ or if they have inferiority complex regarding their looks. Such men find it easier to take the help of alcohol so as to get rid of their inhibitions. This gives them a stronger and harder erection and they feel that alcohol has cured them of impotency.

Alcohol is a blood thinner that can decrease the stickiness of the blood. Due to this, the flow of blood to the pelvic region increases. However, excess consumption of alcohol can be extremely harmful and is one of the leading causes of impotency.
