In the whole process of trying to lose weight and become healthy, we do not realize that there could be some fatty foods which are healthy for us. Eyeing them for the calories they carry and hence quickly removing them from the plate could mean that you are missing out on some extremely important nutrients. Some of the healthiest fatty foods are:

  • Eggs- A whole egg can be a form of complete food as they carry more healthy calories than any other food item. Eggs are a wholesome food product that is rich in essential vitamins, minerals and proteins.  They are also an excellent source of choline which helps to break fat to be used as energy. Along with that, they are also an excellent source of lutein and zeaxanthin which are antioxidants that are known to prevent macular degeneration and cataracts. In facts, independent research conducted on consumption of eggs showed that people who had eggs daily for breakfast consumed lesser calories for the rest of the day than those who dint. But most of us continue to avoid eggs as they are high in cholesterol and fat.
  • Cheese- Most of us drool over cheese. And there is a reason for that as just about anything that we love, from pizzas to burgers, sandwiches to pastas cheese tends to go with them all. This delicious food product is extremely rich in proteins and fat. Both these nutrition’s are known to make us feel full soon. Having cheese can be fun as you can use it for way too many things that range from having it in the form of a dip or spreading some grated cheese over baked potatoes.
  • Butter- Don’t cringe. You are told to keep away from butter every time you think of food. It is a factory of fat, literally as it oozes with fat. But there is another side to this story too that most of us never bother to find out, the health benefits of butter. The good thing is there are many. We have to note that it is important to have fat so that your body can absorb some really important minerals. Now this is one thing that most people are unaware of, butter helps the body absorb vitamins A, D, E and K. Butter also tasted heavenly so add some to your daily food, get over the guilt and enjoy yourself.
  • Coconut- Coconut is far richer in saturated fact that even butter. So people who are already suffering from increased level of cholesterol are warned against using it.  But then again, coconut has some excellent benefits for people who are affected from heart diseases. Research has proven that coconut can help boost the level of good cholesterol.  Best thing to do is have coconut pieces as shredding by adding it to your meal.
  • Sour cream- You love the taste but for years you have been warned against having it or if the carving is too much you were suggested to have lighter versions. Most people are of this opinion as 90 % of its calories are derived from fat with half of them being saturated.  But, the calorie count of sour cream is not too high and can be easily managed. In fact, it is half of mayonnaise and has less saturated fat as compared to 12-ounce glass of 2 % reduced fat milk. Sour cream does not contain Trans-fat in fact, it is loaded with natural animal fat.
  • Poultry- Another food that is delicious but will never figure on the diet plan of people who are on a diet. Though people do know that they have to avoid chicken and turkey, they fail to understand that poultry is also a rich source of proteins, a nutrition that helps in growth of the body as well as speedy repair of wear and tear of the cells. Though dieticians never encourage people to have poultry with dark meat and skin, it is best to have them. These parts are composed of dark meat and skin and are extremely good for the heart. Also, theses animal fats are known to be extremely filling as they decrease your hunger pangs and at the same time reduce your calorie intake. So all in all, they help you decrease you cravings.
