Erectile dysfunction is a problem that men face when they get older. Middle aged men are also prone to getting affected by ED. Reasons for ED includes poor lifestyle, improper diet, accidents and injuries. But it is seldom known that the road to ED could well be laid during one’s childhood years.

 

Not all men have a perfect childhood. There are many children who have faced at least one of the forms of abuses namely; sexual, physical or psychological. It is the sexual abuse that one faces during his young age that makes him vulnerable to erectile dysfunction or male impotency. Abuse of the sexual kind will leave the man emotionally and sexually marred. He may not be able to copulate with his companion. The problem may showcase itself in many ways like lack of libido, premature ejaculation, no intimacy and finally erection dysfunction. As a man who has faced sexual exploitation or abuse in his childhood get older, his testosterone levels decreases. This coupled with the other reasons mentioned earlier may cause a man to get impotent.

 

Another reason could be his over reliance on his mother. His whole sense of a mature relationship could get distorted. One example that comes to mind is that these men give in to the demands of their partners and neglect their own bodily needs. This gradually gets them out of sync with their body needs and eventually leads to dysfunctional organ.

 

Therapists who have treated such men will acknowledge the difficulty involved in curing them. Any treatment for ED that involves psychological help requires the complete support of the person’s partner. Both partners need to comprehend each other’s needs, only then will the therapist be able to cure ED.
